How to Prepare for a Sales Call With AI
To prepare for a sales call with AI, give it the prospect's inquiry and your own offer, and ask for a one-page sheet: what you know, what you don't, and five questions that would fill the gaps. Good preparation tells you what to ask. It does not build a profile of the person from their job title.
The example is a made-up event organizer who has asked a design studio about a brochure.
Known and not known
- Known: the event is in November, and the current brochure needs replacing.
- Not known: the budget, who decides, how many copies.
Give it the inquiry, the relevant public pages with the dates you saw them, and any notes from earlier conversations. Use only what this call needs. Leave out personal details about the person.
The request
The request: "Prepare a 15-minute discovery call from the inquiry and public context below. Return what we know, what we don't, five neutral questions and a suggested next step. Use our real brochure service description. Do not invent a budget, urgency, personal preferences or earlier contact."
What comes back
- What should the brochure help an attendee understand or do?
- Which copy and photographs are already approved?
- What is the final deadline, including printing?
- Who reviews the design, and who approves it?
- What scope or budget should the estimate stay within?
Suggested next step: collect the source files before estimating. Not: quote a price on the call.
The mistake to watch for
Inference dressed as research. "As a senior events manager she likely controls a five-figure budget" sounds like preparation. It came from a job title. Walk into the call believing it and you will pitch to a number she never mentioned. The honest sheet says "budget: not known" and gives you the question.
Watch the questions for the same thing. "What is your budget?" is neutral. "I assume a November event means you need this quickly?" has already answered for her.
On the call
Use the sheet as support and let the conversation set the order. Write down what the prospect actually says, including corrections. If the event turns out to be in October, update the notes and keep the original inquiry beside them.
Run it in your Staffmor office
Open the office on the computer running it with its Start Staffmor launcher. If you already have a paired web office, open it here. Paste this request and the source material into the conversation. Use your approved Codex connection, or ask your open Claude Code session to "Check Staffmor for work." A saved request is not a completed result. Review the answer or file when it comes back and reply with corrections. Ask it to separate the facts it found from the questions it is suggesting.
Staffmor prepares the sheet from what you give it. Contacting the prospect stays with you. New to Staffmor? Set up your office with Codex or Claude Code and an empty folder. Use your own supported AI account and approve the download, office activation and local folder/network access during setup. Claude Code pickup is manual; keep that local session open.
